My first solo post

Hi everyone, It’s Jose. This is my first time doing a solo post on here, and I just want to say that this is a great diet, not just for women, but for men as well. I get all the vitamins from the fruits and vegetables I eat and all the protein from the meats I eat. I feel lighter after meals and have more energy in the gym, and I’ve seen improvement in my body. I highly recommend this diet of you are trying to lose fat and start a healthy lifestyle. It may be hard at times, but just have that determination and self pride, and you will not fail.

Tonight’s dinner was delicious, and it was also the first time we tried kale. My wife has been reading about it on different blogs, and at first I was skeptical about it. But, as it turns out, it is really tasty, similar to collard greens. The sweet potatoes were on point, and the turkey breast was amazing. We topped it off with green juice to make it a wonderful and delicious dinner.  IMG_8403

Larabars…

I got to test out Larabars as a pre-class snack today, and I love them! They’re pretty much the only protein bar you can find at the local grocery store that is paleo-friendly, because they consist of only dates, nuts, and the fruit of your choice. I tried the lemon one first, since it was on close-out for 88 cents at Ralph’s. But, weary of the potential taste of a close-out product, I bought a pecan pie flavored one as backup. The lemon was actually delicious! I plan to go back and buy out the small stock that was left at the store. The pecan one was good as well. I can’t wait to try some more flavors and hopefully find some on sale somewhere in bulk…they are quite pricey!

Here’s what they look like, in case you want to go looking for some. Just stay away from the peanut ones if you are paleo, since peanut is a legume.

I hear there are lots of great recipes to make homemade Larabars, so that might be my next venture. 🙂

Banana and egg pancakes!

This morning we tried the famous paleo pancakes with ONLY banana and egg as the ingredients! We used 3 bananas and 3 eggs, which didn’t make a thick enough batter but still ended up tasting delicious. We’ll probably play around with different quantities next time, but we’re so stoked that there’s a cheap and healthy alternative to regular flour pancakes. Plus, they tasted even better. Yum.

One month paleo!

Sorry for being absentee bloggers…

This month has been super busy! But full of paleo awesomeness. It is incredible how much this lifestyle has changed our bodies in just one month. We have both seen shrinkage in our waistlines and increased energy, and others are noticing it too! Plus, being choosy with our ingredients has made cooking so much more fun and challenging..here are some of the creations we have devoured so far:

Salmon and sweet potatoes: umm, AWESOME combo!

We even found a paleo-friendly restaurant! This is the paleo salad, from Sloppy’s Burritos in San Diego, Hillcrest. Only $6, with free guacamole..so delish!
